Closed Call: Care
Deadline for academic articles and creative pieces: 7th of March 2022
It is a pleasure to announce our call for papers for the fourth issue of our postgraduate-led journal Cultivate based at the Centre for Women’s Studies at the University of York.
The theme for our fourth issue is Care. We are specifically looking for submissions that will look at Care from a feminist research position.
Care comes in all different forms and plays a role in various contexts, with commonalities rooted in empathy and interconnected relationship(s). You are free to explore Care in all its possible manifestations, and all different facets thereof (examples include, but are not limited to: social care, self-care, community care, environmental care, medical care).
You are invited to submit either/both:
- a critical academic article of 5000–7000 words + references (bibliography excluded from word count)
- a creative piece [e.g., poetry, photograph(s), a visual depiction of an artefact] + a maximum of 250 words of explanation/critical commentary. Please contact us to discuss what other forms of media we can accommodate.
The referencing style of this issue of Cultivate is Harvard (please familiarise yourself with the Harvard style as implemented at the University of York, find details here).
Please send a first draft of your work, plus key words and a short abstract (200 words max.) to cws.cultivate@gmail.com.
The editorial team will do an initial screening of all submissions and selected submissions will be forwarded to be peer reviewed. Please note that reaching the peer review stage is not a guarantee of publication.
For any questions feel free to contact us via email.
